Edinburgh locals were treated to a rare sighting of the huge RAF military Globemaster aircraft that flew over the city on Thursday night.
The impressive spectacle was easy to spot, flying low above the capital and towards Edinburgh Castle ahead of the Royal Military Tattoo performance.
The military C17 Globemaster took off from the RAF base at Brize Norton and wowed residents in the city before returning back to England shortly after 10pm.

After multiple different flypast's were cancelled due to poor weather conditions recently, locals finally got a glimpse of the long-range strategic freight carrying aircraft.
On August 12, a Red Arrows flypast was scrapped due to clouds that had formed over the city, with residents and tourists at the Tattoo disappointed. Although the iconic coloured smoke and weaving performance was not part of the schedule, a rare sighting of the military jets was on the cards.
A similar flypast to the one witnessed on Thursday evening was also scheduled for Monday, August 15, before the weather once again forced the route to be cancelled.
Residents across the city were out in force with their cameras, with one user on TikTok capturing the perfect video of the low-flying aircraft above Edinburgh shortly before 9pm, impossible to miss with its four huge turbofans.
The video snaps the aircraft travelling slowly and much lower than a usual jet would, as it made its way to the city centre and circled around to return back to Brize Norton.
