Rail passengers are facing pandemonium after a power failure at Morpeth has led to a large number of travellers being stranded in Newcastle and Edinburgh.
Those on services that are passing through Newcastle on their way to Edinburgh and vice versa have shared images that show large queues of people waiting on replacement bus services.
Network Rail said earlier this afternoon that the power failure in Morpeth was causing major disruption for trains on the East Coast Mainline in both directions.

They urged anyone travelling between Edinburgh Waverley and London Kings X via Newcastle and York to check their journeys online.
LNER, CrossCountry and Lumo had advised their passengers not to travel on Monday February 20 and stated that their tickets would be valid on services running the following day.
It is understood that replacement bus services are being put in place to take passengers between Newcastle and Edinburgh but that significant queues have formed in both cities' train stations.
LNER said that they have ticket acceptance in place with Cross Country, Transpennine Express, Scotrail, Northern and Avanti west coast.
It is not known when the fault will be fixed but CrossCountry have said on their site that they expect the problem to continue until midnight tonight.
Mrs HC has shared a video of the queues in Edinburgh Waverley and asked rail operators “Why have you not had buses on all day?”
In her Tweet, those hoping to travel down south can be seen snaking in queues as they await an update on how they will get to their destination.
Steve Harris posted a picture of what he described as “thousands” of people waiting in a queue outside of Newcastle Station.
People can be seen in the image stretching down the length of the street with multiple families and elderly travellers visible.
A statement from LNER read: “LNER have advised NOT TO TRAVEL today between Newcastle and Edinburgh. Customers with tickets dated today can now defer travel until tomorrow, Tuesday 21 February and Wednesday 22 February.”
