Edinburgh property: Five of the homes for sale currently listed the longest

Finding a place to live can be difficult with many people trying to find the perfect new home to meet all their standards.

Whether it's about the exterior, interior or its general location and transport links, there's a lot to think about before making an offer.

The capital has a lot of great properties such as beachfront home for sale with sunroom and sea views, a £1m townhouse with tiered garden or maybe a 'scenic' coastal cottage that's cheaper than a city flat.

But what about the not-so latest ones to hit the market? We have listed the five oldest properties currently on the market, according to Rightmove and here's what we came across.

Polwarth Crescent, Polwarth, Edinburgh

The flat is offers over £209k. (Rightmove.)

This one bedroom and one bathroom flat has been on the market the longest, according to Rightmove, with the property having been listed as "reduced" on March 12 2021.

With a home report value of £220,000, the current 'offers over' figure stands at £209,000 with the marketplace boasting about several of its features including its location. Approximately one and a half miles south west of the city centre, the popular Polwarth district, where the flat is situated, offers a variety of local shops and amenities with a broader choice available in neighbouring Bruntsfield and Morningside.

As well as being close to the Union Canal and Henderson Park, the newly refurbished flat is set within a traditional late Victorian tenement. It also boasts a double bedroom and a south west facing living area, encompassing a fashionable thoughtfully equipped modern kitchen.

Hillside Street, Hillside, Edinburgh, EH7 5HB

This flat is offers over £250k. (Rightmove.)

This flat is currently on the market for offers over £250,000 with Rightmove having had the property listed as being 'reduced' on April 9 2021.

The one bedroom, one bathroom flat is described as a "very special property" in an "excellent location" and not one to be missed.

According to the estate agents, the top floor flat in the highly sought after residential pocket of Hillside, close to Edinburgh city centre. They add: "The property is presented to the market in excellent condition and is a great example of a traditional flat which has been sympathetically finished to an exacting modern standard. The property also benefits from access to a communal rear garden."

St Vincent Place, Edinburgh, EH3 5BQ

This property is on the market for offers over £275k. (Rightmove.)

This clean and modern looking property is currently on the market for offers over £275,000 with the one bedroom, one bathroom flat occupies a prime position off Fettes Row in Edinburgh's sought after New Town.

According to Rightmove, "the accommodation is focused on a large, neutrally decorated, dual aspect living/bedroom room, which can easily be separated into two rooms a living room and bedroom. The two sets of French doors in this room make it feel spacious and allow natural light in. The property has plenty of space for a range of different furniture arrangements to suit individual taste.

The property is asking for offers over £230k. (Rightmove.)

This one bathroom flat is a studio apartment and is currently asking for offers over £230,000 with the property having been listed on February 5 2021.

The sitting room, dining room and bedroom are all in the same space, as shown in the picture above, with a separate hall, kitchen and bathroom shown on the floor plans.

According to Rightmove, the studio flat is located in Edinburgh's historic and much sought after New Town with the "delightful second floor studio flat" lying within "walking distance of all the amenities and attractions of the city centre. The property is in turn-key condition and is an ideal investment opportunity or pied-a-terre. "

George IV Bridge, Edinburgh

The offers over on this property is currently listed as £485k. (Rightmove.)

This three bedroom and one bathroom property is currently on the market for offers over £485,000.

Having been listed on the estate agents website on March 10 of this year, the apartment boasts panoramic views over the capital's skyline. Rightmove have also said that it also has "uninterrupted vista of Edinburgh Castle to the rear, whilst to the front, views of the university buildings, law courts and George IV Bridge capture a moment in the history of the area."

They add that the "top floor three-bedroom apartment within an original late Victorian building in an elevated position adjacent to the heart of the historical Old Town.
