A performance of the hit West End musical The Jersey Boys had to be stopped after a brawl erupted within the audience at a capital theatre.
Members of staff at the Edinburgh Playhouse had to stop the altercation that had broken out in the theatre after what appeared to be a “full-on fist fight” up in the balcony took place around 30-minutes before the sold-out production was due to end.
Those in attendance say that the scuffle kicked off after two audience members were being “rowdy” throughout the show which sparked criticism from others in attendance, the Daily Record reports.

Workers at the venue had pleaded with the alleged guilty parties to tone it down but it soon turned into a violent confrontation with one male appearing to resist and throw punches at staff.
Onlookers say that officers were called in to quash the beed and that the performance had to be stopped in order to allow both police and staff to tackle the fight.
Another argument also took place in the stalls which then led to the show being delayed for a further 20 minutes.
Jersey Boys, which recounts the story of Frankie Valli And The Four Seasons, it is one of musical theatre’s most popular shows and has been playing to packed audiences during its two-week Edinburgh run.
One audience member said: “A man was really loud and annoying people so staff asked him to calm down but because he was drunk he took offence and started throwing punches.
“It took about four ushers to restrain him and then another fight broke out in the stalls. The curtain came down and the lights went up. It was a shame to see the Playhouse staff get assaulted like that.”
A police spokesman said: “A 51-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman have been arrested
and charged in connection with the incident.”
The Daily Record said there was no one available at The Playhouse for comment.
