Edinburgh police seize e-scooters and report non-insured drivers during patrol

Police in Edinburgh seized multiple e-scooters and reported several drivers during a foot patrol in the capital on Sunday.

Officers within the north east division were deployed in Leith and they took to Twitter to round up the day's work, which led to two e-scooters being seized, two drivers reported for no insurance and a further two traffic offences detected and reported.

Adding to this, the team also reported four drivers for taking an illegal left turn on on Brunswick Road, an offence that was earlier highlighted by local councillor Jack Caldwell after saying in just ten minutes, he witnessed seven drivers making the same turn.

He added that the drivers were in danger of running down school pupils at a nearby primary as the no left turn signs were being 'ignored'. Police say they caught a further four drivers making the same mistake.

They tweeted: "NECPT working with Special Constables from our North East Support Team NEST have been conducting a day of action in Leith today. Following complaints from the local community, four drivers were reported for no entry & no left turn signage offences on Brunswick Road.

"The team conducted foot patrols throughout Leith. We took the opportunity to visit and engage with our local community in parks and open spaces. Results: two drivers reported for no insurance, two e-scooters seized and two further traffic offences detected & reported."
