Edinburgh might not be known as a UFO hotspot but a recent incident might have people beginning to believe it could be.
Residents close to the Pentland Hills have been left baffled after mysterious orange lights were spotted shining in the sky above the popular landmark.
People became so concerned by the lights that they contacted the police to investigate, reports Edinburgh Live.
The incident, which took place on Friday evening (February 11), was made even more confusing when the possible explanation of Ministry of Defence training exercises at the nearby Dreghorn Barracks was ruled out.
A video shot from a nearby home shows two glowing figures flickering against the dark sky before becoming parallel and remaining hanging in the air.
Sharlyn Ferrol, who captured the lights, said it was not something [she] expected to see on her way home.
Pictures also show the glowing balls of light appearing over the horizon to the astonishment of locals.
A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed officers had attended a report of the unidentified objects, adding “checks” had been carried out.
However, there was no confirmation of what the mysterious lights were, leaving everyone involved none the wiser as to what they could have been.
