Edinburgh pedestrians 'forced to walk on road' due to confusing roadworks

Edinburgh pedestrians were forced to 'walk in the middle of a busy road' after confusing roadworks block off the pavement.

Roadworks were in place over part of the pavement at the top of London Road. While a sign points for pedestrians to avoid the works, there is no safe path to walk around.

The works are situated partially on a bus lane on Leopold Place making the area a busy crossing to navigate.

Red safety gates seem to have fallen over with some even laying on the road along the bus lane.

The only accessible route past the works is to walk round them into the middle of the road in front of oncoming traffic and the popular bus routes that follow that line.

The roadworks were put in place due to an emergency call out from Scottish Power and have been on Leopold Place since 13th May.

Edinburgh City Council have now confirmed that Scottish Power’s contractors have rectified the site.
