One of the oldest cities in the world and home to body snatchers, serial killers, witches, sorcerers and ghosts at various points in its history, it'll come as no surprise then, that Edinburgh has been named the 'spookiest city' in Europe. With Halloween approaching a new study has named as the place to go to for some supernatural fun.
Holidu, the booking portal for holiday rentals, decided to find the cities in Europe with the highest-rated Ghost and Vampire tours as presented on TripAdvisor.
A spokesperson for the travel firm said: "Stories about haunted houses, pumpkin carving, and scary movies - who doesn’t love the spooky season? For those who also love to travel, we've found and presented some of the most exciting European destinations to visit on the 31st of October. Are you ready to discover some of the spookiest cities in Europe?

Scotland's capital beat out the likes of Paris (with its extensive Catacombs) and London with terrifying characters such as Jack the Ripper, to be crowned the city to visit for a Halloween scare.
Speaking about Edinburgh, the Holidu team said: "It’s official! Edinburgh is the most haunted place in Europe, with 31 tours available and 7343 reviews avg. 4.9 stars on TripAdvisor, so it's the ideal destination to spend this spooky season.
