Vegetarians and vegans looking for a city break should look no further than Edinburgh according to a recent study.
The capital has been named one of the top vegan-friendly city breaks in the UK thanks to its plethora of restaurants offering plant-based options.
Holiday lettings specialist holidaycottages.co.uk used poll stats and data collated from Happy Cow and Google to find those cities around the UK that are best for those looking to cut down on their meat consumption.
Manchester, Brighton and Nottingham were revealed as the top three vegan-friendly hotspots, while Edinburgh, the only Scottish entry was named in fourth place.
A spokesperson for the firm said: "For the one in five (20%) Brits who identify as vegetarian and vegan, planning a city break often involves an extensive Google search of ‘vegan-friendly restaurants’. So, just where are the UK’s vegan hotspots to plan your next city break visit to?
"Look no further, as new research from holidaycottages.co.uk has revealed the top 10 vegan hotspots."
To find out where the best places to go were, they used data from Google and Happy Cow, as well as the number of designated vegan and vegetarian restaurants in each area, and the number of restaurants offering vegan and vegetarian-friendly options.
They also looked at the percentage of people who follow a vegan or vegetarian diet or are looking to in the future.
This information was then ranked and given an average score. The lower the score, the higher the city placed in their rankings.

Edinburgh is regularly picked out in these lists, with a score of 5.4, it beat out the likes of Bristol and Newcastle.
Speaking about the capital, the research team. wrote: "One of the UK’s most popular and beautiful cities, Edinburgh attracts thousands of tourists to its unique cobbled streets each year.
"The city is a fantastic base to explore all of Scotland’s stunning glens, lochs and mountains, and is one of the top vegan areas in the UK too.
There are a total of 691 restaurants that are suitable for vegans and vegetarians, and just under 20% of residents in Edinburgh are either vegan or vegetarian. A further 34% of Edinburgh’s residents would like to go vegan or vegetarian too."
