Edinburgh Marathon, held yearly in May, has been named in the list of the UK's best marathons based on its popularity and the beauty of its route.
The capital's event took the proud fourth place in the list, yielding to the London, Manchester and Brighton runs, in the research conducted by footwear brand HOKA.

The research took into consideration a number of factors, including the cost of entry, number of participants, number of landmarks for each marathon route and the volume of Instagram hashtags to determine the most picturesque marathons.
After looking into more than 60 marathons from across the UK and providing a list of the country's top ten runs, HOKA said: "Edinburgh takes fourth place. The Edinburgh marathon happens in May and attracts a maximum of 16,000 participants.
"According to the 38,352 Instagram hashtags, runners will enjoy a route across Arthur's Seat and Holyrood Park to end by the seaside of the city, all for the nominal entry fee of £64 - one of the highest in the list."
The company has also outlined the rising popularity of marathons, with around 673,000 searches of the word "marathon" recorded by Google every month globally.
In the upcoming year 2023, Edinburgh Marathon will take place on Saturday and Sunday of May 27 and 28 - and you can book yourself a spot on the event's website.
