Edinburgh man with 'serious' injuries rushed to hospital from block of flats

A man is in a serious condition in hospital after falling at a high-rise apartment block in Edinburgh.

The incident occurred around 9:30pm on Thursday night, October 27, at Persevere Court, Leith as a heavy emergency service presence was spotted in the area.

Police have confirmed that a 44-year-old man was rushed to hospital and suffered "serious" injuries.

Police, the fire service and paramedics all rushed to the apartment block, with a spokesperson for the SFRS confirming they assisted colleagues and carried out a rope rescue, but were unable to provide any further information.

Pictures from the scene showed police and fire crews conversing during the aftermath of the incident, which had on-lookers concerned.

One Twitter user said: "Something happening in Leith, EH6. Lights trained up at tower block, ambulance, fire truck, police. At least four fire engines, police, ambulance, and lot of focus across at the tower block opposite our building."

The 44-year-old was subsequently rushed to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh having fallen, although no further details are available at this time.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 9.30pm on Thursday, 27 October, to a report of a person having fallen in the North Leith Mill area of Edinburgh.

“Emergency services attended and a 44-year-old man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with serious injuries.”

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 21:26 on Thursday 27 October 2022 to attend an incident at Persevere Court, Edinburgh. Two ambulances were dispatched to the scene and one patient was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.”
