Edinburgh drivers using the M8 this week have been warned that a series of overnight closures will be taking place between two major junctions.
BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is set to resurface 1.2 kilometres of the M8 eastbound at Junction 5 Shotts.
To allow the works to be carried out safely, the M8 eastbound between Junction 5 and Junction 4A will be closed overnight between 20:30 until 06:00 on the nights of November 2, 3 and 4.

A clearly signed diversion route will be in place for eastbound traffic, directing motorists off the M8 at Junction 6A and along the B7066, before re-joining the M8 at Junction 4A.
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will improve ride quality and safety for road users on this section of the M8.
“Carriageway closures are essential for safety during the works, however we’ve planned them to take place overnight to minimise any disruption.
