Many Edinburgh M8 and city bypass drivers were caught out by police on Monday after a crackdown on motorists near both major roads.
A number of individuals in cars and larger vehicles were pulled over at the temporary police checkpoint at Hermiston Gait on July 4 to carry out a series of surprise inspections and road checks.
In a warning to other drivers posted on social media, Road Policing Scotland explained they had carried out an operation with the DVSA to check for any unknown defects.
