Edinburgh locals baffled as white van crashes into burn on public pathway

Puzzled Edinburgh locals have reported seeing a large white van crashed nose down in a burn just off of a popular footpath in East Craigs during the early hours of this morning (June 20).

A couple of Bughtlin residents managed to capture photos of the vehicle before it was towed out of the burn at the back end of Bughtlinside.

The vehicle can be seen wedged between a black fence which stretches over the small burn in the quiet residential cul-de-sac.

Police tape could be seen blocking off the surrounding area where the van looks to have crashed at around 4.35am on the morning of Tuesday June 20.

Officers have said that enquiries into the one-vehicle crash are ongoing and that the incident took place around the Bughtlin Drive area of Edinburgh.

It is not yet known how the van ended up on the pathway or what led to the large vehicle crashing into the burn.

An officer could be seen inspecting the vehicle before it was recovered.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 4.35am on Tuesday, 20 June, 2023, we were called to a report of a one-vehicle crash in the Bughtlin Drive area of Edinburgh.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
