An Edinburgh hotel has apologised after an guest left a seething review.
The woman had travelled up from England and sayed in easyHotel in the city centre. Although it has stunning views of the castle, the guest was left underwhelmed with the cold small room and claimed the bed was dirty with a stained mattress protector.
She went on to say how she could hear every conversation people on the street had, adding that the window seemed to be 'paper thin'.

The hotel quickly responded, and with an apology, added how easyHotel is a 'budget hotel' with the concept of meeting basic needs.
In the review she said: "After looking through the pictures after my friend booked this hotel, I honestly thought it really couldn’t be as small as it seemed, I was wrong! This was the smallest room I have ever stayed in, Harry Potter's cupboard under the stairs was probably bigger than our room.
"The windows are single glazed, and honesty there may as well have been a piece of paper there in its place because you could literally hear every single noise that was going on outside, you could hear conversations as if you would stood right next to the people talking. Which happened all through the night."
She added: "The first night we got there we pulled back the cover and there was no sheet on the bed, only a mattress protector which was absolutely filthy, there was hairs on it, which weren’t ours, there was a blood stain and what appeared to me some sort of smear mark, my friend went to reception and was handed a new mattress protector that was in the packet.
"You can’t control the temperature of the bedroom, it was freezing cold, I rang reception multiple times and asked them if they could put the heat on in the bedroom, it was so cold the blind was wet through condensation, at no point was there heat coming from the radiator that was in the room, or the air ducts, it resorted in us asking for a plug in heater for the room."
However, the guest did compliment the staff. She said: "Outside of this the staff were very polite and other than the bed situation the room was clean and smelt clean. However if you’re planning on staying here I would probably just stay somewhere further out for less money and just get the tram into town as it’s very cheap. The only thing that save this experience for me was the view of the castle."
The owner of easyHotel in Edinburgh quickly replied, apologising and said they were 'disappointed' that the guest had such an experience.
They said: "Thank you for your review. We are happy you found our staff to be helpful and polite. We are sorry to hear your stay with us wasn't satisfactory. We are disappointed that you found our room size to be small. easyHotel Edinburgh is a budget hotel which offers space-efficient rooms, designed to meet basic needs. We have tried to maximize the space in order to provide the most competitive price in the heart of the city centre.
"Our offer is directed to the specific type of travellers who are looking for affordable accommodation in the great location wanting to explore the city rather than staying in the hotel. We are a super budget hotel offering simple value and basic facilities which may not be suitable for everybody. This is why the detailed information regarding room sizes and facilities can be found online, where it can be seen before making a booking.
"It is the Guest who chooses a certain type of room (with window, windowless or standard). There is also an option to upgrade the room (if available) when the room booked does not meet the Guest's expectations.
"We understand that our concept is not for everybody this is why we place such an importance on reading all the information opposed to checking only the location and price.
"It is often extremely difficult to sort out difficulties properly such as comfort of bed and internet speed unless we are told promptly. If you discuss the problem with us during your stay at the hotel, it can usually be sorted out straightaway. Please accept our apologies regarding the issues you have faced while staying with us. I can assure you that our team is working hard every day on improving our standards and services based on our guest’s opinions to make sure we can meet all expectations.
"Thank you again for your time, and our apologies for any inconvenience caused."
The hotel has three stars on Tripadvisor with guests rating it four and a half stars for location and four for cleanliness.
Another guest commented and pointed out that it was perfect for solo travellers. She said: "I was traveling solo in October and decided to go with a hotel that was central and within walking distance of everything. The location was perfect with a lovely view of the castle from the door of the hotel.
"Since its a budget hotel (comparing the prices of the hotels on the same street) you pay for what you get.
"I had my own lovely small room with a double bed and a bathroom to myself - that's all I wanted! The room and the bathroom were very clean. The room had very limited space but there was space under the bed to store luggage and when traveling solo I didn't need much space especially since I spent most of my day traveling around the city anyway.
"Would definitely stay again."
