Edinburgh gin festival returns to capital for first time in two years with free drink

Edinburgh is set to kick off a gin-flavoured summer as the country’s original celebration of the spirit returns to the capital for the first time in two years.

The Juniper Festival is back in the city’s Summerhall Drinks Lab offering fans the chance to sample the best of the country’s botanicals across a weekend-long event.

Over 30 gin distillers are set to pack out the busy capital venue for the first time since 2019 after previous events were shelved by the covid pandemic.

Attendees can enjoy masterclasses, talks and innovative experiments with gin at their heart across the weekend of June 17 and 18 - with some exclusive cocktail creations on offer.

Jamie Shields, managing director of the Juniper Festival said: “Since 2014 we've offered a great range of established and new gin brands from around the country and this year is no exception.

“Meeting the distillers and producers and finding a new favourite is always a highlight for our guests.

“After a couple of years off we are all very excited to be back in Summerhall tasting fantastic gin with great people.”

He added: “At the Drinks Lab we excel at putting on interactive drinks experiences all year round, so we wanted to bring a little of that flavour to the Juniper Festival.”

Tickets for the event cost £10 and include a drink on arrival and can be purchased here.
