With under a month 'til the start of this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival, we're sure many of you will have already made plans for which shows to go to this year.
For the first time since 2019, the Festival will be back in full flow, following its Covid-related cancellation in 2020 and the pandemic significantly curtailing the 2021 event.
The Fringe kicks off on Friday August 5, with the final day on Monday August 29, meaning there's over three weeks of performances and events for the people of Edinburgh and its visitors, while this year marks a significant 75th anniversary of the Fringe.

For those of you still to bag yourself tickets for the upcoming shows, there's still plenty of time. We've recently published guides on ticket info and where all the venues are located to make it a little easier for you.
And for readers familiar with the festival - perhaps particularly those with kids - you'll know it isn't just adults who get to enjoy the Fringe.
Every year there are dozens of family-friendly shows for children - many of them free or available to attend for a reduced price - meaning young ones can make the most globally-revered arts exhibition too.
With just weeks to go until the first performance, we've put together a list of shows you might want to sign your kids up for in 2022 and what organisers say about the performances they feel its worth you getting the family along to.
Cirque Berserk
Showcasing the finest in traditional circus thrills and skills, Cirque Berserk! brings this treasured form of live entertainment bang up-to-date in a jaw-dropping spectacular created especially for the theatre.
Combining contemporary cirque-style artistry with adrenaline-fuelled stunt action, this astoundingly talented international troupe includes over 30 fearless acrobats, aerialists and daredevil stuntmen, featuring the world's most hair-raising circus act: the legendary motorcycle Globe of Death.

Fruit Flies Like a Banana
Three performers, fifteen acts in forty-five minutes, this is cool collision of music, theatre and dance – and where the audience chooses the show order. The multi-talented musicians of The Fourth Wall play while dancing a tango, riding hoverboards and even hanging upside down! Music leaps off the stage in this fan-favourite from North America.

Doktor Kaboom!
Doktor Kaboom is having trouble picking his favourite science experiments, so he's bringing them all!
From optical illusions to chemical reactions, a homemade hovercraft and more! Spin The Wheel of Science and together you'll choose what happens next in the show. Will we turn a water bottle into a rocket or catapult bananas across the stage? Who knows? No two shows will be the same. So, step right up, and let's spin that wheel! 'This show is what you want live children's theatre to be'.

The Song of Fergus and Kate
A pitch-perfect exploration of identity, The Song of Fergus and Kate encourages children to celebrate their differences, belonging and friendships. This interactive adventure uses storytelling, music and animation that “make the story come alive – perfect for my hyper four-year-old.”

Basil Brush
Britain's most loveable fox Basil Brush (Boom! Boom!) takes us on a journey of laughs, storytelling and song. His Family-fun Show is specially written for the live stage, packed with lots of lols. (For adult fans of the fox book early for Unleashed… and Uncut).

The Greatest Magic Show
Direct from Australia, This multi award-winning family magic show is returning to Edinburgh once again with more whimsical wonders than ever before!
Having garnered international acclaim with sell-out seasons across the globe, stars Sam and Justin will be hitting the stage with brand-new illusions direct from Las Vegas! Disney's The Jungle Book Kids
Adapted from Disney's beloved animated film and the works of Rudyard Kipling, the “man cub” Mowgli bounds through the jungle and learns what it means to be human.

Cat in the Hat
Experience mischief this Fringe and see the return of the acclaimed stage adaptation of Dr Seuss's The Cat in the Hat.

The Gruffalo, the Giant and the Mermaid with Julia Donaldson

The Dark Room (for kids!)?
How will they escape being stuck inside a live-action video game in The Dark Room (for kids!)? Will they find a light or explode in a shower of stinking guts?
An interactive adventure featuring hideous prizes and complete mayhem, it may have some mild language but it’s more Roald Dahl than YouTube. Recommended for 11+ but younger kids are welcome.
