It's just a matter of days before Edinburgh's Festival Fringe, heralded as 'the single greatest celebration of arts and culture on the planet', makes its return.
After it's covid-related cancellation in 2020 and the pandemic having a significant impact on last year's event, for the first time in two years the Festival will well and truly be back in full flow.
And this year marks the the 75th anniversary of the festival's inauguration, with it first launching way back in 1947.

The Fringe kicks off on Friday August 5, with the final day on Monday August 29, meaning there's over three weeks of performances and events for the people of Edinburgh - and its visitors - to enjoy this time round.
With thousands set to descend on the city from across the globe once more, organisers say the eagerly-anticipated 2022 event will deliver: "big names in the world of entertainment to unknown artists looking to build their careers, the festival caters for everyone and includes theatre, comedy, dance, physical theatre, circus, cabaret, children's shows, musicals, opera, music, spoken word, exhibitions and events."
They add: "This festival doesn’t just attract performers and visitors from all around the world, it’s also a hotspot for creative producers and the media scouting for the next big talent."
Edinburgh Live will be keeping you up to date with all the information you need to know about the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in the build-up and daily coverage of the the festival when it gets underway.
But how much do the shows cost this year? And how can you get your hands on tickets?
How much do tickets cost?
That depends on the show you're going to take in, with all performances priced individually.
Although you might pay well into the double figures for an individual ticket for some shows, you don't have to break the bank to enjoy the Fringe. There's set to be dozens of free events and discounted performances where you can benefit from the likes of 2 for 1 offers.
Last week, we reported Edinburgh residents can grab tickets to shows for just £5. Assembly Festival is offering all locals with an EH postcode a £5 ticket to shows over the opening weekend of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, August 3-7 inclusive. This comes as Assembly celebrates its 40th anniversary line-up while the Edinburgh Festival marks its 75th birthday this year.
Tickets can be purchased online through Assembly Festival’s website and will be available on a first-come-first-served basis for more than 150 of their shows.
How to buy tickets?
You can purchase tickets via the official website of this year's Festival, edfringe.com, which lists all this year's performances. Simply search for and click on a show that takes your fancy, and there you'll find a link to where you buy your tickets.
Is there a booking fee?
For this year's Festival, a booking fee of £1.25 per ticket is applied to all bookings, up to a maximum of £5 per transaction. Organisers say the booking fee contributes towards the Fringe Society’s charitable work.
