Edinburgh family rave to feature temporary tattoos, snow machines and licensed bar

A family-friendly rave featuring snow machines, temporary tattoo stations and play areas for children of all ages is set to take over a popular Edinburgh music venue.

Big Fish Little Fish (BFLF) promises a ‘ 3am experience ’ but with the volume turned down as it prepares to celebrate its sixth birthday at the capital’s La Belle Angele on March 13.

The event, which encourages youngsters and their parents to experience a small sample of nightclub culture in a safe environment, features a selection of DJs playing a range of club classics at a closely-monitored level.

Children can also take part in arts and crafts activities, a giant colouring mural and visit face painting stalls during the all-day party.

Adults however need not fear a dry day out as a licensed bar is available for a few refreshments.

BFLF Scotland Manager, Kirstie Wilson said: "I can’t believe it has been six years since we launched Big Fish Little Fish in Scotland, back at La Belle Angele. It was a natural decision to choose the venue as Manga (in the original venue) was the first club I went to - and will forever be the first club my kids ever went to too.

"La Belle has such a rich history in our city and over the last six years we’ve brought some huge DJs to play for families at Big Fish Little Fish, such as Slipmatt, Chad Jackson, Eddy Temple Morris and DJ Food.

"Since launching in Edinburgh, we’ve grown to offer regular shows in Glasgow, Aberdeen and Inverness as well as festival slots at Kelburn Garden Party and Belladrum.

"We had to postpone our Hogmanay event due to covid restrictions, so we’ll also be incorporating some of the extra fun we missed at Christmas and Hogmanay events.

"We’ll be bringing along our famous snow machine to recreate the mood! Frankie Elyse is currently smashing it in Scotland scene as a DJ alongside her Kintra production project, so we’re delighted to have her join us."

She added: "I love knowing that I’m consistently able to bring something a little bit different to Edinburgh families and I’m very proud to be responsible for such a successful addition to the family calendar.”
