Statue for Elsie Inglis charity trustees are being asked to step aside after closing down an open call to artists and commissioning a well known sculptor with ties to the Royal Family to make the first statue of a woman on the Royal Mile.
Local artists are raging about the commission and selection process claiming the outcome fails to deliver what people donated their money to support.
A trustee for The Statue for Elsie Inglis charity said the group remained determined to deliver the landmark memorial and countered that "certain parties" seem preoccupied with women’s rights rather than her legacy.
