After grounding the plane was given a full inspection and all safety checks were carried out before it continued the journey to Edinburgh safely arriving at the destination.

A spokesperson for EasyJet said: "EasyJet can confirm that flight EZY312 from London Stansted to Edinburgh yesterday evening diverted to Manchester due to a technical issue.

“The aircraft landed safely and was met by engineers who undertook an inspection of the aircraft and the flight then continued to Edinburgh."

They added: “The safety of our passengers and crew is EasyJet's highest priority and easyJet operates its fleet of aircraft in strict compliance with all manufacturers’ guidelines.”
