Edinburgh drivers are currently facing delays of nearly an hour after roadworks on a major motorway have caused chaos for a second day.
Traffic Scotland issued an alert to motorists on Sunday afternoon (October 16) following the closure of a section of the M90 for essential repairs.
Warning drivers that they could be facing delays of somewhere between 40-50 minutes, live traffic images showed the tailbacks stretching for miles heading southbound.

Sharing on social media, Traffic Scotland said: "#M90 (southbound) closed J1 to M9 J1A, 40-50min delays on the #A90 from Scotstoun to Barnton."
Closed over the weekend, this is the second day that drivers have been caught up in the delays, with queues on Saturday also stretching 'for miles.'

Capturing the tailbacks on video, one passenger told Edinburgh Live how traffic had come to a standstill from South Queensferry.
The delays have been caused by the weekend closure on the M90 between junction 1 and the M9 junction 1A, due to ongoing refurbishment work on the bridge carrying the M90 over the railway just north of M9 Junction 1A Kirkliston, with the busy route closed for this weekend and another weekend in October.
