Drivers have been issued a warned following a collision in Edinburgh on a major carriageway.
Those driving through the A702 at Hillend have been told to use an alternative route if possible while a diversion has been put in place. Traffic Scotland has confirmed that the road is closed in both directions after a collision this afternoon.
At 1.48pm, Traffic Scotland alerted drivers of the collision.

Later it posted on social media: "UPDATE. 14:47 #A702 Hillend - Easter Howgate The carriageway is CLOSED in both directions due to collision #TakeCare on approach and use #AltRoute if possible Traffic coping well through diversion route which can be found below."
On traffic.gov.scot it explains: "SOUTHBOUND" Closure of A702 at Hillend - leave the A702 by taking left onto the A703 at Hillend and follow the A703 for approx. 2 miles to Plover Hall roundabout at the A701 junction – taking right to follow the A701 southwards for 0.3 miles to the Gowkley Moss roundabout – taking right onto the unclassified road – continuing to re-join the A702 at Easter Howgate.

"NORTHBOUND: Closure of A702 at Easter Howgate - leave the A702 by taking right at Easter Howgate - onto the unclassified road continuing to the roundabout at Gowkley Moss –taking left at the r/about onto the A701 continuing northwards for approx. 0.3 miles to Plover Hall roundabout at the A703 junction - taking left onto the A703, and continuing on this road to re-join the A702 at Hillend."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 1.30pm on Thursday, January 12, to a report of a two vehicle crash on the A702 at Boghall near Penicuik. Officers are in attendance and the road is closed.”
