Edinburgh Deliveroo riders filmed among cyclists flouting red lights

A concerned Edinburgh resident has taken to Twitter to share videos of cyclists flouting the rules of the road in the capital.

In one video shared with Edinburgh Live, two Deliveroo cyclists can be seen one after another riding through a red light between the junction at Nicolson Street and West Nicolson Street.

The first Deliveroo courier appears to slalom in and out of cars as they drive through the extremely busy junction.

The second cyclist headed straight through the red light with motorists sitting adjacent to him waiting for the light to turn green.

A second video shared by the same source on Twitter shows another Deliveroo rider showing disregard for the rules of the road by going through a red light just down from Shandwick Place.

Three other cyclists are then seen following them through the red light and over a pedestrian crossing. One cyclist waits whilst a young woman scampers to the other side of the road despite a red light showing at the crossing.

The videos were shared on Wednesday April 12.

As per the Highway Code, informed by the Road Traffic Act 1988 section 36, cyclists 'must obey all traffic signs and traffic light signals' and 'must not cross the stop line when the traffic lights are red.’

Deliveroo has been contacted for comment.
