An Edinburgh dad has claimed that he was forced to leave the “disgusting” Wonder World soft play business in Leith shortly after arriving due to the dirty play area.
Sam Andrews, 38, attended the soft play area on Friday 22 April 2022 with his two-year-old daughter Sophie, son Jack and partner Louise Barker.
But the father says that he was horrified to discover how filthy the business was shortly after opening.
The family were only the second family into Wonder World on Easter Road, but upon entering, they claim to have discovered mucky carpets and a play area covered in dirt, dust, used tissues and cups.
Sam said that the state of the place was so severe he decided to leave after only 25 minutes in the venue after worrying about the cleanliness of the play area.
The cost of entry was £9.95, but the father of two says that he will not be returning unless a severe deep clean of the venue takes place.
On their visit he said: “We have been with my daughter a few times after businesses started opening up following the pandemic.
“Normally we would visit in the afternoon so I don’t think I ever noticed how dirty it was.
“But when we arrived on Friday we instantly noticed the state of the carpets. This was just after 09:30am as we stood outside waiting for the venue to open.
“In the play area there were used napkins, cups and half eaten sweets. The place was also covered in dust along the netting.
“The netting has zips on it so you should be able to get in and hoover it.
“As a parent it was horrible to see and that is pretty much why we left after 25 minutes. My daughter was having a good time but it made me feel ill. We had to get out of there.
“It needs a massive deep clean and needs to be cleaned more regularly. If that is how they can leave the area when kids are in then I’d hate to see their kitchen which is hidden away.
“It makes you wonder about the state of the business in areas that people cannot see.
“It needs a proper scrub and is just disgusting. Properly horrible and after the last two years with covid you would think that they would be scrubbing the place all the time. Makes you think how Covid secure it is.
“After the last two years you want to make your kids feel safe but to go into that first thing with crumbs all over the floor is not right.”
