Edinburgh locals in a residential area have been issued a warning after receiving a 'scam letter'.
The City of Edinburgh Council have reported that a tenement building in Portobello received a letter claiming to ask residents to carry out repairs to the building.
In the letter shared by the council it says that the 'external frontage' of the property is requiring maintenance".

"All shop/house frontages within a Conservation Area must be maintained to a high standard. All external paintwork/electric cabling of the building must be maintained to a high standard."
The letter goes on: "The City of Edinburgh Council would require repairs be addressed within a period of approx four to six months and would expect owners to collaborate organise this."
With this, Edinburgh Council have quickly responded saying this is a 'scam letter' and that they would not contact residents in this way.
Posting on social media, they said: "This scam letter has been posted to a tenement building in Portobello. We’d never communicate with residents like this asking them to carry out repairs. If you're looking to carry out repairs contact our shared repairs team for advice – https://edinburgh.gov.uk/sharedrepairs".
