An Italian restauranteur has been given permission to operate as a restaurant at the site of an Edinburgh city centre takeaway.
The City of Edinburgh Council received the application from A Crolla & Son (Catering) Limited to open the new venture on Lothian Road.
Fresh Mex operate out of the premises and they contacted Edinburgh Live and insisted they are still open, and it seems they will be continuing on in the premises for now.

Edinburgh Live reported last year that the Fresh Mex had opened a takeaway at the premises.
It appears that they have now been operating as a restaurant for a while, and the new planning application was to check if they had the correct permission to operate.
The property is within the West End Conservation Area, and is a ground floor commercial unit within a four-storey tenement building.
The Fresh Mex premises in Lothian Road now has had it confirmed that they do indeed have the correct permission to operate as a restaurant.
A document is provided on the planning application that shows the City of Edinburgh Council previously granted a liquor licence for the premises back in 2016.
The council confirmed that the liquor licence would be "the certificate of lawfulness application for the use of a property as a restaurant is acceptable."
The City of Edinburgh Council accepted the proposal on Tuesday February 14.
A request for comment has been submitted to the A Crolla & Son (Catering) Limited.
