Popular jewellery shop Claire’s Accessories looks set to take over a prime spot on Princes Street. Plans have been submitted by the US firm for new signage at an outlet - hinting they may soon be bringing another store to Edinburgh.
Claire’s currently has one location at the bottom of Leith and two others far to the east and west of the city but no current presence in the city centre. The new plans sent in to the city council are for 90A Princes Street - currently occupied by Brands Outlet.
The premises used to be a branch of Body Shop. The plans are currently going through the pre-planning stages of the council’s process and are still awaiting assessment for pre-planning permission.

Documents uploaded by the retail giant show that they would keep the existing glass front of the store and simply change the signage. Under the proposed plans, the illuminated Neon sign will hang above the simple, glass wall and door entrance to the new store and be 4.9m by 1.4m with white lettering on a purple background.
However, plans for what the interior of the new shop could look like have not yet been released to the council. Bosses at Claire's were keeping tight-lipped about the plans this week. Contacted by Edinburgh Live, they said they had nothing to add at this stage.
