Edinburgh care home staff 'in tears' after elderly resident learns to walk again

A care home resident who was told he would never walk again is back on his feet, much to the delight of those around him.

Martin Birkhans, 86, came to Cramond Residence in January last year after a medical diagnosis. Thinking he would be bedbound for the rest of his life, the care home provided physio sessions.

Now, with the help of a zimmer frame, he's regained some of his independence. The improvements meant he was able to spend the Christmas Day with family, reports the Daily Record.
