Edinburgh bus services are set to be restored to a regular timetable from Monday following disruption caused by the Omicron Covid surge.
Transport operator Lothian warned passengers routes would be scaled back for an indefinite period during the festive season due to staff absences caused by illness during the pandemic.
Capital services were due to be shifted to a weekend timetable between December 24 and January 5, but “considerable pressure” as a result of coronavirus forced bosses into the move.

A statement read: “We are pleased to confirm that from this Monday (31 January) a normal weekday service will be reinstated on the Lothian network.
