Edinburgh builders uncover ‘ghost sign’ for lost lounge bar during renovations

An Edinburgh ‘ghost sign’ has appeared in the Meadowbank area, revealing a past business which once occupied the building.

The signage, which reads Tivoli Lounge Bar, appeared as the current owners renovate their restaurant. It's understood that Tivoli was once a family run restaurant, which closed its doors many years ago.

The owner, Lino, also ran a nearby eatery - Lino’s Café.

Archives reveal the building was a public house back in 1902, registered under the name Andrew McLennan. For a time in the ‘00s, it served as Chinese restaurant Xanadu.

The building, which now operates as ‘top-rated’ Indian restaurant Guatam's, is currently closed for renovations. Posting on Instagram, Guatam's said: “Exciting things are heading our way.
