Edinburgh is bracing itself for some wintry weather in the coming days as the capital is facing sleet showers and winds from Sunday onwards.
Weather maps and predictions have shown that snow is heading for Edinburgh by Sunday, March 5. Temperatures as low as -5C are expected next week, according to BBC Weather, as the cold snap continues.
Forecasters at the Met Office have also issued a warnint over freezing temperatures and up to eight inches of snow across the UK - due to a high pressure system heading north and allowing the cold air to escape from the Arctic.

According to WXCharts, Scotland will see freezing temperatures of -11C over the coming week.
Met Office forecaster, Alex Deakin, discussed why the bitterly cold weather is heading for Scotland and the rest of the UK by March instead of during the peak of winter.
Alex said: "High pressure has been dominating the UK in recent weeks and it is expected to head towards Iceland which could see the northerly winds pushing south across all parts of the country.
"Moisture in air increasing chance of snow, jet stream could also increase wintry showers. Low pressure systems getting involved and they are more likely to inject perhaps a little bit of moisture which combined with the cold air could make things more interesting."
The snow is forecast to begin on Sunday, March 5 and continue throughout next week.
The Met Office's long range weather forecast for the coming week reads: "This period is expected to be characterised by winds from the north bringing cold conditions to most areas.
"This will most likely result in wintry showers across northern and eastern areas, these turning to more organised bands of snow at times.
"During the later part of the period confidence decreases significantly, however there is a risk of some milder and wetter weather pushing into the south from the Atlantic, meaning spells of rain will become more likely across the country."
