A top Edinburgh bar has released a new food hamper perfect for taking out for a picnic in the Princes Street Gardens with a perfect view of the Castle.
These new ‘Wind in the Willow’ hampers from Badger & Co can also be enjoyed in the chic bar on Castle Street.
The hampers, as well as the bar itself, are inspired by the novel ‘Wind in the Willows’ by author Kenneth Grahame, who used to live where the bar now sits.
Taking inspiration from the scene where the characters have a riverbank picnic, you can replace the riverbank with a view of Edinburgh Castle.

Meant for two people to enjoy, the hampers are priced at £30.
Each hamper for two contains a homemade pork and haggis sausage roll, artisan sourdough sandwiches filled with shredded ham hock, smoked Cheddar cheese & porter chutney, smoked mackerel pâté, cheese, pickles, piccalilli, crackers and two mugs of homemade soup.
As of now, there is not a vegetarian option, however, there is one currently being worked on by the chefs.
Should you want to eat in the hamper in Princes Street Gardens, there is a £20 deposit, which will be returned once you return all items given to you in the hamper (hamper, soup flask, cutlery, plates, accessories etc.).
If you plan to take the hamper down to Princes Street Gardens, the bar team are asking you to pre-order it at least 24 hours before you plan to eat. If you plan to stay and eat at the bar, there is no need to order in advance.
The hamper is available now and is accessible every day of the week.
Business Development Manager for Signature Group, Hannah McConnachie, is excited for the new release, stating: “We are really looking forward to introducing our Wind in the Willows inspired picnic hampers to our customers. The Wind in the Willows theme is incredibly important to us at Badger & Co. and we felt this was the perfect way to celebrate the book this summer.
"The picnic hamper is filled with local Scottish produce and showcases one of our well known dishes – our homemade sausage roll, we do believe everything tastes better with pastry!”
