Edinburgh Airport tells passengers how to 'avoid unnecessary delays' this summer

Edinburgh Airport has issued a warning to travellers jetting off on holiday this summer in order to "avoid any unnecessary delays".

With Scots across the country heading to the airport in the coming months, there will be a dramatic rise in foot traffic.

As a result, passengers should expect queues when checking in and at security, and should plan their journey accordingly.

As many people will be travelling for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic, Edinburgh Airport has issued a statement warning against packing liquids in bags.

Taking to Facebook, the airport wrote: "Even if you’re sure there are no liquids in your bag, please double check before you arrive at security to avoid any unnecessary delays, especially as the airport gets busier!"

It also posted an image that stated: "We search more than a million bags a year. That's a lot of liquid left in bags!

"Avoid delay. Put it in the tray."

To help passengers travel through the airport as quickly and easily as possible, we have put together a list of all of the checks you need to do 24 hours before flying.

These include checking the Covid-19 rules of the country you are visiting, and making sure your flight is not cancelled or delayed.
