So for those who are looking for a cheap getaway this weekend, Edinburgh Live have searched for affordable weekend getaways where you can fly from Edinburgh Airport.
Venice
With budget airline Ryanair, you can jet off to Venice for £45, at the time of writing - and that's a return ticket.
Flying off from Edinburgh Airport at 10.20am on March 4, you land at Venice Treviso airport by 1.55pm, giving you the rest of the afternoon to soak up some Italian sun.
The flight back isn't until 4.30pm on Sunday 6, so you can still enjoy much of the day in the city.
Of course with all Ryanair flights, you have to pay extra for large carry-on luggage but if you're going for a weekend, you will likely only need a rucksack or holdall with are included in the price.
Denmark
This one's for the weekend of Friday March 11 to the Sunday but for flights for £36- train tickets from Edinburgh to Oban cost more than that!
But here's the catch with this one- the journey back is a long one with a self transfer from Tallin.
Looking at the Ryanair website, the ticket one way to the picturesque and birthplace Lego is just £7.99.
You don't have to fly back with the same airline and it's worth shopping around to see if you can get a cheaper ticket.
Dublin
If you're wanting something closer to home, then Dublin will be for you.
It's a popular weekend getaway for Brits and with plenty of tourist attractions to keep you busy in between pub crawls.
Ireland's capital city is known for being expensive but there are also buses and trains that can take you from Dublin to Galway and Sligo if you want to visit more affordable towns.
A return flight with the budget airline comes in at just £23- cheaper than an Anytime Day Return ScotRail ticket from Edinburgh to Glasgow that costs £27.60.
