Edinburgh Airport rated better than Glasgow Airport by The Telegraph in new poll

Edinburgh Airport has come out ahead of Glasgow's in a new ranking of 16 of the UK's busiest airports compiled by The Telegraph.

The newspaper drew up its guide to the best airports based on a number of factors, such as data on delays and destinations served, visual appeal of the terminals, and feedback from readers.

Coming in at number one is London City Airport, which was noted for its optimal location near the centre of the city and its high percentage of flights arriving on time.

Second place went to Gatwick, which scored highly for the number of destinations it flies to (192), as well as the number of four-star hotels within a two-mile distance and a small number of flight cancellations.

Edinburgh Airport appears further down the list at nine, ahead of popular airports like Manchester, Stansted, and Glasgow which were ranked at 11, 12, and 13 respectively.

One area in which Edinburgh excelled was the quality of nearby hotels, in which it placed at number one.

It was found that 50% of the hotels within a two-mile radius of the airport have a star rating of four or higher, while Liverpool, Leeds Bradford, and Belfast all had zero.

While Glasgow placed poorly in the overall rankings, it placed joint second in terms of ease of access alongside Manchester behind Birmingham.

According to The Telegraph, it takes just 15 minutes to get from the airport to the city centre, though Birmingham has it beat with 12 minutes.
