Edinburgh Airport issues security update as they urge passengers to prepare ahead

There has been airport chaos up and down the country with people seen queuing outside terminal doors.

And with summer fast approaching meaning an influx of passengers making their way on board planes, people are keen to get updates about the current situation.

Taking to Twitter, Edinburgh Airport updated passengers this morning (June 6) said that people need to prepare ahead of time.

They said: "Security queue update – 0900. As of a few minutes ago the time to get through security from first joining the queue was between 1-20 minutes.

"Security is flowing well, but please remember to prepare in advance."

The airport also recently updated passengers urging people not to turn up "too early" and not to turn up "too late."

Whilst replying a Twitter user about people arriving four hours early, they responded: "As we said above, we're recommending people to arrive once their check in is open, NOT before - this adds to waits and congestion."

Edinburgh Airport's website shows a 'wait time' tracker for security and the airport is now going to give regularly updates via their social media pages.

The airport released a statement on Thursday. It read: "From tomorrow we'll be sharing regular security queue times on our social media channels.

"Updates at 5am, 9am, 1pm and 5pm will measure how long it takes for someone at the back of the queue to complete the security process.

"This is different to the tracker which appears on our website - this measures the queue time inside the security hall once passengers have passed through the e-gate."
