Edgware Road: Waleed Ali, 54, charged with attempted murder after woman with pram stabbed in the back

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a mother was stabbed in the back as she pushed a buggy in Edgware Road.

Waleed Ali, 54, of no fixed address, has also been charged with possession of a knife on the busy Westminster street after the attack at 9am on Thursday.

He will appear in custody at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

The woman was rushed to hospital where her condition was declared non-life threatening.

Footage on social media shows the knife attack unfold as the woman is chased across the road.

The victim fell in the middle of the road as Londoners intervened, hurling objects including a shopping trolley, chairs and a bike in an effort to deter the attacker.
