A Welsh-headquartered housebuilder has acquired its first site in Devon for an undisclosed sum - and is planning to build a new neighbourhood of homes.
Magor-based Edenstone Group said the acquisition of a 10.53-acre parcel of land in Sampford Peverell, around five miles east of Tiverton, would play a “pivotal role” in the expansion of the business, which opened a new regional office in Portishead, North Somerset, last year.
Subject to reserved matters planning consent, the scheme will deliver 60 homes including 39 private sale properties with a mix of three- and four-bedroom semi-detached and detached homes. There will also be 18 affordable homes, plus three designated self-build plots.
Plans for the development, located off Higher Town, include a central village square and green; children’s play area; community gardens; orchard and allotments; and green open spaces. Edenstone Group said it would also invest more than £250,000 into the local community via section 106 contributions.
James Morgan, land director for the Edenstone Group’s Southern region, said the Devon site was “widely considered” to be one of the best development opportunities in the county.
He said: “Acquiring our first site in Devon is a milestone for our business and the land in Sampford Peverell will become a flagship scheme as part of our expansion into the South West of England.
“The business has focused on acquiring excellent development sites and I am thrilled we’ve been able to achieve this here. The development of this site will bring much needed new homes to the local area.”
The Edenstone Group was established in 2003 and includes Edenstone Homes, Bluebell Homes, Ashgrove Partnerships and Edenstone Land. The firm is currently selling across six sites and will be starting four new projects this year.
The company has said it is aiming to achieve turnover of more than £100m by 2023 and to build 800 homes a year by 2025.
