Eddie Howe predicts Callum Wilson's Newcastle United comeback date with Wembley on horizon

Callum Wilson should be back for the clash for Liverpool next week - with Eddie Howe allaying fears he could miss the Carabao Cup final later this month.

Wilson was withdrawn with a minor injury ahead of the clash at the Vitality Stadium with Alexander Isak coming in to replace him. Howe has explained why he took no risks with Wilson.

Howe said before the game: "Callum has just got a very minor hamstring complaint. "He will miss this game (at Bournemouth) but we think he will be back for the next one."

When asked about Isak getting his chance Howe said: "He's been training really well. "He has been electric in training with some of things he's done.

"Since coming back from injury he's been great. "I am delighted to give him his chance."

Speaking on Anthony Gordon's chances of a start, Howe said: "I think he did well against West Ham so naturally he was pushing. "But I decided to keep faith with the rest of the players.

"We have a good balance about the team."
