Eddie Howe admits Newcastle United are encountering a Brentford side who are currently trying to find a way through their darkest chapter of the season.
The Bees made a positive start to life in the top-flight after beating Arsenal on day one of the season and rose to seventh place when beating West Ham away in October.
After that Brentford gradually picked up points but have now gone eight matches in league and cup without a victory.
