Eddie Howe hopes that Newcastle United's lofty ambitions will prevent another situation like the one that saw Bobby Clark leave the club for Liverpool last year.
The controversial transfer of Newcastle's best youth player at the time came before Howe had taken over in the hotseat. The 17-year-old has made incredible progress since, starring in the Liverpool reserve team and then finding himself elevated to the senior squad under Jurgen Klopp.
Clark made his Premier League bow in the 9-0 thrashing of AFC Bournemouth last weekend and will be on the bench against Newcastle.

When asked about Clark's exit, Howe told Chronicle Live: Howe said: "It is a very difficult one.
"Up and down the country clubs are losing players from their Academies when they have invested a lot of money when they have invested a lot of time and energy into developing them. The rules make it harder to keep your best players, especially when they see an opportunity that they want to take.
"Certainly in Bobby's example, I have done a bit of research on it and we were disappointed to lose him. The club fought very hard to try to keep him. Now he has gone he goes with our best wishes and we wish him well."
And on the prospect of retaining the club's best youngsters going forward, Howe said: "Certainly now the experience is so good and enjoyable for the players and their families that they went to stay long-term.
"Hopefully now they can see the vision of the club and ambitions of the club are so high that they will want to come on the journey with us."
