Eddie Howe doesn't want to provide running commentary on Ryan Fraser's drop to Newcastle reserves

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has indicated that Ryan Fraser will remain with the club's Under-21 squad.

The former AFC Bournemouth winger has not featured since the 1-1 draw at the Vitality Stadium on the night he returned to his old club. Howe subsequently sent Fraser to train at Little Benton with the reserves but he has not made an appearance for the second string.

When asked if Fraser was any closer to a first-team recall, Howe said: "I think I made comments on that last week. Certainly, I don’t think that’s something I should be commenting on every week."

Fraser was left out of the Scotland squads to face Cyprus and Spain in Euro 2024 qualifying earlier this week by Steve Clarke. Fraser still has two years left on his current Newcastle deal but Howe indicated earlier in the season he does not see him having a future on Tyneside.
