Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe insists he has "no idea" if a move is close for Everton winger Anthony Gordon, who has also been linked with Nottingham Forest.
According to various reports, Newcastle are close to agreeing a fee that could reach £40million for Gordon, beating off competition from a number of sides, including Forest. Chelsea were strongly interested in a move for the 21-year-old in the summer and reportedly saw a bid as high as £60million rejected by the Toffees.
Gordon's stock rose exponentially last season after making his breakthrough into the Everton first team but after a strong start to the current campaign, has seen his form tail off lately. His struggles have coincided with that of the entire Everton side, with the club in disarray both on and off the field as they sit 19th in the Premier League.
