Eddie Hearn admits Jake Paul would "spark him out" in £10million boxing fight

Eddie Hearn has admitted he would end up "facedown" on the canvas if he fought Jake Paul.

Hearn promoted Paul's boxing debut when he dropped and stopped AnEson Gib in a YouTube boxing clash in Miami in 2020. Paul has since launched a professional career in the sport defeating the likes of Tyron Woodley and Ben Askren in the process.

Matchroom Boxing promoter Hearn has since worked with Paul on a joint-promotion of Katie Taylor's victory over Amanda Serrano in April this year, and the pair were sat down in a face-to-face clash during fight week. Since the fight was completed, Paul has taken critical shots at Hearn on social media after the Briton labelled him an "average" fighter.

But Hearn has insisted he would only consider stepping in the ring if an offer of £10million was made. "I've thought about it but he would knock me out," Hearn said during an appearance on the Happy Hour podcast. "I can fight a very little bit, I've been around boxing and I've had a couple of fights but I'm very, very bad.

"I said to my old man, how much, do you think, to get in the ring with Jake Paul, because it would do massive numbers. Can you imagine the UK audience, the thought of me getting knocked out? It would be one of them where we don't care who gets knocked out, we can't stand them both, someone will get knocked out.

"[I'd do it for] £10million, and it would do one million pay-per-view buys in the UK, the numbers would add up, but I would probably have to live the fact he was going to spark me out bad. I would have a right go, I wouldn't be defending myself and trying to survive; I'd stick it to him and get cleaned out, spectacularly, probably facedown."

Hearn has always stayed on the promoting side of the sport, but took on Matchroom CEO Frank Smith in a sparring session which he dominated earlier this year. Meanwhile Paul has moved from the YouTube space into boxing and is eyeing a number of high-profile fights next after his previously planned meeting with Hasim Rahman Jr collapsed.

Paul and Hearn shared a $1million bet on the outcome of Taylor and Serrano which was later altered to a sparring opponent of Hearn's choice with Taylor picking up the win. UFC champion Henry Cejudo believes Paul and Hearn should lace up their gloves and fight to settle their recent scores.

"I think if he has a lot to say like that, okay, well then, fight. Well, why don't you?," Cejudo said on The Triple C and Schmo Show. "If Jake Paul is not that good, why don't you lace up the gloves? Why don't you lace up the gloves and why don't you fight Jake Paul? And I think that fight itself would be a mega banger."
