Ed Sheeran's Instagram following has declined amid the controversy surrounding Macklemore's removal from the remaining US dates of Sheeran's Loop Tour, while Sheeran has said some friends and family members have been distancing themselves.

Macklemore announced on 14 September that he had been removed from the remaining US dates after performing at Sheeran's MetLife Stadium shows in New Jersey earlier that month. During his 4 September set, the rapper said 'Free Palestine' and performed his 2024 protest song 'Hind's Hall'. The tour promoter said the decision followed venue restrictions.
