Ed Sheeran has shared details about his decades-long friendship with Blank Space singer, Taylor Swift.
The 32-year-old candidly revealed that Taylor, 33, was one of the "only people that actually truly understands" him and where he's currently at in his career.
He added that speaking to Taylor is like "therapy" and recently had a "20-hour long conversation" with her.
"I have long, long, long conversations with Taylor about stuff just because I feel like she's one of the only people that actually truly understands where I'm at," Ed told Zane Lowe for Apple Music 1.
"I had an hour-20 [minute] conversation with her yesterday and we were just — everything that was on our minds we talked about. I mean that in itself is kind of therapy as well, because you're actually talking to someone that genuinely gets it."
He continued: "That has all the things that you feel and have insecurities about and how other people treat you or how your family treat you, how your friends treat you. She's basically in the same sphere."
Ed also shared how his friendship with Taylor branches into his work and revealed that Taylor had encouraged him to collaborate with producer Aaron Dessner, who had worked on albums Folklore and Evermore with Taylor.
"I'm always — not guarded, but I kind of would keep my distance if there would be a collaborator that she'd be working with closely just because that's her thing. And I don't want to be like, 'Well going to do that too'," he told Zane, according to People Magazine.
"But she was like, 'I think it'd be really important for you as an artist to do what I did and work with Aaron because this is what it did for me. And I think you and Aaron should work together'.
"So that sort of opened the door to it. And I am incredibly grateful. I'm making some of the most meaningful music to me that I've made in a very long time."
Ed saluted Taylor for introducing him to Aaron in a lengthy Instagram tribute to the singer and the producer, who worked with Ed on his new album titled "-".
"So in 2021, I got a message from @taylorswift to link me up with @aarondessner. She thought he and I would make something great together," he wrote.
"He flew over to the UK and we recorded it in a week by the seaside, and its just been the most incredible process, and an album I'm so bloody proud of.
"Thanks to Aaron and Jon for the insane amount of hard work and dedication you put into this project, and bringing out a side of me I had put on mute for so long. And of course, thanks to Swizzle, as always, you rock."
