Ed Sheeran has announced he is taking a break from Instagram until the new year and has wiped all pictures from his grid.

The singer, 31, left fans scratching their heads as he posted a picture of himself with his back to the camera as he gazed out into the distance while standing on top of rocks jutting out of the sea.

“Signing off now until 2023. See you in the new year. Much love, Ed x,” he wrote alongside the cryptic image.

The comment section was flooded with messages of support from his loyal followers eager to find out what he has planned.

“Can’t wait. Enjoy the time with your family,” wrote one.

“A well deserved break, can’t wait to see what 2023 has in store for you,” penned another.

“This is so exciting,” declared a third.

The surprising move comes after he was spotted this week at North Denes beach in Lowestoft, Suffolk, doing some top secret filming.

It is likely that the picture shared to his Instagram was taken at the same time.

While the MailOnline reports that crew members tried to fob off curious members of the public by claiming that they were filming “a fish fingers advert”, it is believed they were really making a music video for Sheeran’s sixth studio album, which is due to be released next year.

The picturesque location is 30 miles from where he grew up and where he lives with his wife, Cherry Seaborn, and their two daughters in his £3.7m “Sheeranville” Suffolk estate.
