Ed Sheeran's 'Sheeranville' builders engrave their names on the outside of his new chapel

Ed Sheeran's chapel on his sprawling Suffolk estate has been written all over by builders who decided to etch their names on his place of worship.

The Shape of You singer is currently building a chapel on his estate, which will also feature a burial chamber, but now builders have engraved their names onto the wall of the building.

Leaving a permanent mark, the builders has etched their names and the date that they did it.

In new photos released by The Sun, builders Danny, John, Paul and Garry signed their names in the stone alongside the date, 22.02.22.

Completely visible, their names and the date can be seen from a distance on the side of the unfinished tower.

Ed's chapel, which is currently a work in progress, is on his huge Suffolk estate. He got approval last month for a burial chamber underneath it.

Currently resembling a building site at the moment due to scaffolding covering the outside of it, the proposed chapel will be shaped like a boat and have a lead roof, flint walls and stained-glass windows.

He applied at the start of the year to build a chamber beneath the chapel that could fit two bodies inside, something that locals were not too pleased about.

The Sun reported that a local named Anna Woods sent a letter of objection where she said: “The area is well served by local churches and I feel there is no need for a well-known person to create his own island of calm when lovely places of worship abound in the area.

“I also note there will be a burial chamber in the building.

"Are celebrities now so detached from reality that their every living breath, and now even the act of dying, be apart from the rest of us?”

But East Suffolk Council’s environmental and conservation officials raised no objection.

Councillors will have to rubber-stamp the approval.

Ed's sprawling 16-acre estate is like a mini village and is made up of his main house, which he bought in 2012, as well as three other homes.

The estate also has a pub named The Lancaster Lock, a fruit orchard, a recording studio, a wildlife pond and a swimming pool.

The singer resides on the estate with his Cherry Seaborn and their one-year-old daughter Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran.

In July 2015 Ed and Cherry got into a relationship, something which came years after the pair being childhood friends and classmates at secondary school.

They announced their engagement in January 2018 before getting hitched a year later in 2019. Ed's hit song Perfect was penned about his wife.
