Ed Gamble says successfully losing seven stone (44kg) was not the result of signing up to a "crazy crash diet" but by making simple changes to his lifestyle.
The comedian, 36, cut down on his 19 stone (121kg) body weight in his early twenties by stopping "binge-eating" and "boozing". Speaking to the Daily Star in 2019, he added that he also found enjoyment in exercise.
"I didn’t really have self-esteem issues", Gamble told the newspaper. "I don’t want to paint this as, ‘Oh, I was really down about myself' – I was perfectly happy. But when I got booked for TV, I thought it might be nice to shed a few pounds.”

The Great British Menu judge tried veganism for nine months but ultimately gave it up. He told the Guardian in January that slow-cooked meat is now one of his "favourite things".
Gamble took up running and has since participated in the London Marathon, raising money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund. His commitment to the charity stems from the fact that he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes aged 13.
While admitting to the Mirror that he "didn’t really look after [himself] properly" until he was in his mid-twenties, Gamble has since become more aware of balancing his blood sugars and has even worked the experience into his standup routines. He manages the condition using a glucose monitor.
Type 1 diabetes is not linked with age or being overweight, although weight gain is a common side effect for people who take the insulin treatment. More information about the condition can be found on the NHS website.
Gamble presents the Off Menu podcast with James Acaster and is set to replace Richard Osman as one of the rotating co-hosts of daytime quiz Pointless. He recently competed in Taskmaster's 'Champions of Champions' special on Channel 4.
He is appearing on Saturday Kitchen at 10am on July 2 on BBC One.
